Being a smaller breed, pom poms have reasonable dietary needs. The amount of food should gradually increase with their age. A high-quality feeding material in sufficient amount which can be home cooked or commercially produced as per the liking and suitability of this woolly pooch is enough to satisfy its feeding needs.
Pom poms are quite lively and high spirited dogs and are happy to spend their time playing in a park with their loved ones. As they have a moderate amount of exercise needs, a short stroll or a brief play session is more than enough to keep them entertained and fit as well.
Pomeranians are generally happy to be trained and are quite responsive to their trainers. Starting from an early age, they should be taught things like walking with a leash on, return when called for et cetera. A trainer should be patient and firm while teaching them new things. Treats can help a lot while training but should be given in limited amounts.
Pom ’s coat is one of the distinct features of this adorable breed. It needs to be cared for properly to keep it clean and tidy. Brushing twice or sometimes thrice a week is required to remove extra loose hair from their coat. Their nails should be kept short and cleaning of their ears, face, anal glands et cetera should be done as required. Also, pom poms are moderate shedders and only shed on a seasonal basis.

Pomeranians are supposed to be originated in Germany and their history dates back to several hundred years ago. Although the Pomeranians of today are very tiny and compact, their ancestors are believed to be much larger than them and they are considered to be the product of several breeds like the Samoyed, the Norwegian Elkhound, the Alaskan Malamute, and the German Spitz.
Around the year 1761, the popularity of this breed reached England when a young Princess of a neighboring province of Pomerania, named Sophie married an English Prince. She brought two dogs with her which were white in color. At that time, mostly the royal families were the admirers of this breed.
After several years, their popularity skyrocketed when Queen Victoria came into power. During her time, she was famous for breeding several different breeds but was more inclined towards pom poms. Because of her love and interest in this breed, several breeders in England were inspired to raise this fluffy canine. And, soon Pomeranians became a household name in almost whole of the England and later rest of the world.
