These large-sized dogs which are commonly known as Rottie come from a small German town called 'Rottweil' which was also the inspiration behind the name of these canines. Rotties are highly intelligent and powerful dogs that are very protective of their loved ones and are highly obedient and faithful to their parents. But unfortunately, in case of Rottweilers, all these nice qualities are often forgotten about them as this is one of the most misunderstood breeds present today in this world.

But regardless of what some people feel about these canines, Rottweilers are very popular in India. These canines are loved by most Indian dog admirers and there are a lot of reasons why this breed is so well-known in this country. First of all, Rottweilers are pretty easily available in India and it is not that hard to find a Rottie in most of the bigger cities of this country. Secondly, these dogs are fairly adaptable and adjusting in nature. The average maintenance cost of a Rottweiler can be around ₹3,000 to ₹6,000 per month which is pretty reasonable for such a massive breed.

Given below is the average price list of the Rottweiler puppies which are available in India in various variations.

  • Rottweiler Puppy price (Basic): ₹18,000 to ₹25,000
  • Rottweiler Puppy price (KCI registered): ₹25,000 to ₹35,000
  • Rottweiler Puppy price (Show Quality): ₹35,000 to ₹65,000

Now, if you want to get a Rottweiler from a breeder, then, it is very important to only look for this canine at a Good breeder’s place. A reputed breeder will provide you with all the necessary details about the Rottweiler that might be useful for you either now or in the future. Selecting a dog from a good place also ensures its quality and the chances of him/her suffering from a genetic disease are also reduced. Therefore, you should only bring this pooch home once you have found a trustworthy breeder.

Factors affecting the Rottweiler price in India

Now there are numerous factors that can affect the original Rottweiler price in India. These factors are as follows:

Type

There are three different price categories for a Rottweiler dog (in India): Basic, KCI Registered and Show Quality.

  • Basic category includes all those dogs and puppies that are not registered to any kennel club including KCI. A basic Rottweiler puppy can cost anywhere around ₹18,000.
  • KCI is short for Kennel Club of India and if a dog belongs to KCI Registered category, then it means you will get a canine whose quality is up to the mark. You will also be able to participate in KCI dog shows if your canine is registered and also you will get a KCI registration certificate.
  • A Show Quality dog means that the canine is closest to the ideal as mentioned in the Breed Standards. If the characteristics of a dog are not similar to its breed standards description, then that canine is not considered to be “Show Quality”. If you are not planning to participate in dog shows with your pooch, then it does not matter all that much whether you buy a Show Quality dog or a normal Pet Quality one.

Physical Attributes and Characteristics

There are quite a few different types of Rottweilers that can be found in this world. These Rotties have slightly different appearance and structure from one another and this can also influence the original price of the Rottweiler dog. The American Rotties were primarily bred in the United States and these dogs are fairly tall and they do not have the blocky head that a German Rottweiler has. Speaking of German Rotties, these canines are known for their thick bones and a muscly and blocky body. Also, these Rotties are born in Germany (hence the name German Rottweiler). There are various other categories of Rottweilers like Roman Rottweilers (which are more bulky than the previous two), Tailed Rottweilers (these Rotties simply have tails) et cetera. These dogs are also divided on the basis of coat color and the more rare the coat color is, the more expensive the Rottweiler will be. Rotties with Common colors like Black with rust, mahogany and tan markings are not that pricey but some rare colors like blue are also sometimes found on the coat of this canine which eventually increases its price. But a blue colored Rottie is probably not a purebred canine and is a result of cross-breeding.

Age & Gender

Price of a Rottweiler puppy can also get affected by its age and gender. Male Rotties are being sold at a higher price by some breeders. Similarly, puppies and young dogs generally cost more as compared to old or fully grown canines as the demand for puppies is more.

Pure or Mix Breed

The cost of a purebred Rottweiler dog is higher than the mixed-breed as there are lesser chances for a purebred puppy to develop hereditary health problems as compared to the one that is mixed-breed.

Availability and Location

A canine will cost less if it is readily available in your area as compared to the one whose availability is not that great. Hence, Rottweilers generally cost less than various other breeds as they are much easily available in India. Also, location plays a big role in determining the final cost of a dog. If you are getting the pooch from a nearby place or from the same state that you reside in, then its cost should be fairly less as compared to if you get the canine from a different state or far away location and this is most likely due to the additional shipping charges that add on to the original price of the dog.

Reputed Breeder

Price of a dog can again increase if you are buying it from a reputed or well-known breeder. This is because people generally consider popular breeders to only sell high-quality canines who are sufficiently healthy and wholesome and reputed breeders are also aware of this fact, hence they begin to charge more for the breed.

Miscellaneous Factors

  • Champion Bloodline: If a dog belongs to a champion bloodline, meaning any of its predecessors (forefathers) were given the title of Champion in an official dog event, then its price can also go fairly high.
  • Microchip: The price of a dog can also increase if it has been microchipped by the KCI. The extremely small pet microchip helps in providing a permanent ID for your pet.

Read some information regarding Rottweilers and see if it’s a right fit for you or not-

The Rottweilers are extremely good-natured canines who are very protective of their loved ones. They have a fearless personality and will take on any kind of danger to protect and safeguard you. They are commonly known as Rotties and they are one of the most popular breeds all around the world. The section below will help you in deciding whether to bring this pup to your home or not.

Reasons that might make a Rottweiler suitable for you:

  • Rottweilers are friendly and well-mannered canines who, if properly trained, can be highly adaptable and flexible in nature.
  • They do not require a lot of maintenance and grooming from their parents like some other breeds.
  • These canines have excellent watchdog ability and they are extremely territorial in nature, hence, they are considered awesome guard dogs who will protect you and your property.
  • Rottweilers are highly intelligent canines who, under the supervision of a well-experienced parent/trainer, can learn a lot of different skills and tricks.
  • This is a very durable and sturdy breed and it remains fairly fit and fine throughout its lifetime.

Reasons that might make a Rottweiler ill-suited for you:

  • This breed is not meant for novice dog parents as training and handling such a large breed can be a little exhausting for the first-time dog parents.
  • The Rottweilers are not very warm with strangers, other canines, and small kids. And, thus they should be properly trained at a young age by an experienced dog parent. And through proper training, it is easier for the Rotties to mix well with others.
  • They can be a little stubborn and independent during the training sessions.
