But, on the other hand, there are some breeders who not only care about the health and fitness of the pups but they also prioritize the potential pet parents’ needs over everything else. And, you should try to get the pup of your dreams from such reliable breeders only as that way not only you are ensuring the health of the canine you are interested in but you also get the much-needed peace of mind. Factors Affecting the Saluki Dog Price in India

Now there are various factors that can affect the original Saluki price in India. These factors are as follows:

Type

There are three different price categories for a Saluki dog (in India): Basic, KCI Registered and Show Quality.

  • Basic category includes all those dogs and puppies that are not registered to any kennel club including KCI. A basic Saluki puppy can cost anywhere around ₹30,000.
  • KCI is short for Kennel Club of India and if a dog belongs to KCI Registered category, then it means you will get a canine whose quality is up to the mark. You will also be able to participate in KCI dog shows if your canine is registered and also you will get a KCI registration certificate.
  • A Show Quality dog means that the canine is closest to the ideal as mentioned in the Breed Standards. If you are not planning to participate in dog shows with your pooch, then it does not matter all that much whether you buy a Show Quality dog or a Normal Pet Quality one.

Physical Attributes and Characteristics

Physical characteristics such as color of the coat or the length of the coat can also influence the overall price of a pooch. As Saluki canines can have two different kinds of coat which are of different lengths, the price of this canine can also vary because of this. Two types of coats that these pooches can possess are – Smooth coat (short coat) and Feathered coat (long coat).

Also, these dogs are found in a lot of different coat colors and depending upon the rarity of the coat color, the price of this canine can again vary. Different coat colors in which Saluki canines can be found in are – Cream, Tan, Black, Gold, Fawn, Silver, White, Red and Chocolate. The rarer the color of the coat, the higher might be the price of the Saluki.

Age & Gender

Young dogs and puppies are known to cost more as compared to older canines. Also, male dogs are sometimes sold at a higher price as compared to their female counterparts.

Pure or Mix Breed

The cost of a purebred Saluki is higher than the mixed-breed as there are lesser chances for a purebred puppy to develop hereditary health problems as compared to the one that is mixed-breed.

Availability and Location

Dogs that are readily available in an area tend to cost less compared to those pooches who are not that easily available. In case of Saluki, these canines are not very easily available in several parts of India, hence their price is a bit higher compared to those breeds that are pretty easy to find in the country. But still, for a rare breed, the overall price of the Saluki canines is not extremely high in this country (compared to other rare breeds).

Reputed Breeder

Popular or famous breeders are also known to charge a bit more for rarer breeds as compared to those breeders who are not so reputed and well-known like them. Hence, this also influences the overall price of a dog in a region.

Miscellaneous Factors

  • Champion Bloodline: If a dog belongs to a champion bloodline, meaning any of its predecessors (forefathers) were given the title of Champion in an official dog event, then its price can also go fairly high.
  • Microchip: The price of a dog can also increase if it has been microchipped by the KCI. The extremely small pet microchip helps in providing a permanent ID for your pet.
